You’ve probably seen the commercials from the USPS for Every Door Direct Mail and wondered to yourself “What the heck is that?” or “Really, the post office is advertising?” or “Isn’t this program DVR’d, why aren’t I fast forwarding?” Well, if you are part of the first group, then look no further for an explanation.
Every Door Direct Mail is a new service from the United States Postal Service which allows your business to send out postcards and other advertisements to a targeted area without having to purchase a mailing list or even print addresses on your mail piece. As if that isn’t good enough, the postage is as low as $0.145 cents per piece! That’s a savings of $0.10 – $0.20 per piece. Not too shabby.
85% of a store’s customer’s come from a 5-mile radius.
Simply map out your targeted area and delivery route using the handy tool on USPS.com, choose your delivery date and pay online. That’s it. The USPS will deliver your pieces (up to 5,000 pieces a day per ZIP code) to every active address in your target area. This is great for businesses that want to saturate an area with announcements, coupons or other information without the hassle of having to purchase a mailing list or pay for fees to have their customer list processed for mailing.
There are standard sizes to choose from when designing your mail piece for Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM). Luckily, some of those sizes are large or oddball sizes so you can make your piece stand out and have an impact. Here are the standard sizes:
When your mail piece is printed, we will add the standard EDDM indicia and address them to “Postal Customer”. (For those of you that don’t know, the indicia is the little box of text printed in the upper right corner of a mail piece where the stamp would usually go. The indicia indicates that postage has been paid.) The only step left is to drop them off at the post office before your requested delivery date. Or you could make it even easier on yourself and just have us do it for you.
So next time your business needs to spread the word about an amazing offer, consider trying Every Door Direct Mail. The Post Office has made it too convenient and inexpensive not to consider it for your next project.
